SAMPLE: OKM ITINERARY FOR LAKE LOUISE GROUPS
Group 13+ Lake Louise Groups
NOTE: Not all groups will follow the itinerary below. Instead, chaperones will meet to spread out the number of hikers across all of the approved trails. To see some of the possible day hikes, click the button at the top of this page.
Day 1: Sun: Meet your group in the OKM parking lot bright and early to board your assigned bus. Gear will be stored in chaperone support vehicles and you will only need your jacket and bagged lunch on the bus. Travel from Kelowna to the Roger's Pass Visitor Information Centre for a meeting with Canada Parks officials. Topics are safety, regulations and policies. Now is a good time to change your watches to Alberta time. From here it is approximately 2 hours to the Lake Louise campground on Hwy #1. After arriving at Lake Louise, you will set up your camp, enjoy your first car camping meal and prepare for tomorrow's hike by getting everything organized for an early departure.
Day 2: Mon - Day 4: Thurs: Each day you will explore one of the day hiking options in the Lake Louise or Moraine Lake area.
Day 5: Fri: Pack up your tent and group shelters in time to catch your bus. Your gear will be packed in support vehicles, and you should only need your jacket, cash for lunch and maybe some snacks for the bus. You will be meeting up with all the hiking groups this morning.
We will rendezvous at Roger’s Pass Monument (Time TBA) with all the other groups. A group picture will be taken here. Then we will proceed to Revelstoke for a lunch break at the fast food strip on the left-hand side of the highway at the main intersection.
Let your parents know once you have an idea when you will be home so they can arrange for you to be picked up (usually around dinner time).
